The Business Expo has always offered great speakers,
networking opportunities, and outstanding exhibitors... but this
year the Expo put Fort Wayne business competition in a whole new
arena.
With the help of One Eleven Design, the 2002 Expo
featured an office hockey tournament, where sixteen area businesses
faced-off in a single elimination office hockey tournament that
ended in a championship game. The twist? All players were seated
in Herman Miller Aeron® chairs!
From these chairs, teams competed on a custom-designed
indoor rink complete with goalies, a penalty box, and more. Games
took place in the expo hall throughout the day as players competed
to take home their own Aeron® chairs, retail valued at over
$1,000 each.

The event added excitement and a new twist to traditional
business competition, and brought a victory (and 5 Herman Miller
chairs!) to the top team: Northeast REMC. Five other chairs were
awarded in special categories: including CEO shootout, exhibitor
shootout, best team spirit, and more!
The event was an outstanding and record-breaking
success, with attendance that was over 3,000 in just one
day. In addition, the event was clearly the highlight of the Expo,
drawing enthusiastic crowds and competitive teams all day. The event
concluded with games between the Mayors Office and Chamber
Staff, and a face-off between the winning team and the Fort Wayne
Komets!
