Are there tax incentives to buy furniture?

Yes.  The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Jobs Creation Act of 2010 allows you to deduct immediately the full cost of most depreciable personal property.  That includes furniture and fixtures. (Such as work chairs, office chairs, healthcare systems, boardroom furnishings, waiting area furnishings and accessories).  The bill covers property acquired after September 8, 2010 and before January 1, 2012, and which is put in service before January 1, 2012.  Also, for investments of this same type of property put in service during the 2012 calendar year, the bill provides for a 50 percent bonus depreciation deduction.
